Meet the Calgarians building the Green Line - Nathan Yu
Since joining the Green Line LRV technical team in 2021 as Project Engineer of Rail Systems and Integration, Nathan Yu has worked to ensure that Calgarians riding the future Green Line experience a comfortable, quick, and safe ride.
He has also worked directly with Calgary’s LRT network since 2015 in a prior role testing and commissioning Calgary Transit’s latest high-floor LRV. This opportunity has allowed him to bring this valuable experience to Green Line.
Nathan and his team are currently working to verify that the design of Green Line’s future train, the Urbos 100, meets all of the technical requirements of the LRV Supply Agreement. He also enjoys following the evolving landscape of transit in his personal life, noting, “I am a transit enthusiast myself, which helps me bring my passion and enthusiasm to the work I do for the Green Line Project.”
Nathan’s work is key to ensuring that Calgarians get the best possible transit experience and are confident in Green Line’s LRVs. Throughout the design phase, the LRV technical team conducts regular design reviews of documentation from CAF, Green Line’s supplier of the Urbos 100.
This detailed-oriented work is a craft of passion for Nathan, and he’s happy to make his dedication to the Green Line known, as he notes, “I continue to work on the Green Line LRT Project for one reason, and that is to see this project become a reality. “
As one of many Calgarians working for the Green Line, Nathan has regularly used local transit, which has given him a strong appreciation and understanding of the impact that a city-transforming megaproject such as the Green Line LRT will have once it is constructed.
